When you think of red chilly, a smashing ‘Oooosh!’ is a necessary response. This little spice has won the hearts and tongues of all Keralites over the globe representing itself as an inevitable ingredient in all our curries.
But, what would you do, if you happen to get a light tasteless seedless red chilly?
Mohanlal and Shaji Kailas together have entertained us, in many occasions, in the past. No one can blame an average audience if he expects a piece like Aram Thampuran, an eternal thriller that made history. A hot title, elegant styles of the superhero on posters, I had a lot of expectations about Red Chillies until I watched it. I can review this movie in a word – HOPELESS!
The movie develops in the same lines as in ‘Chinthamani Kolakkes’ in which Suresh Gopi plays a lawyer who implements his law despite freeing criminals. Here, the difference is that this is not a profession for the hero OMR (Lal). Overall, Red Chillies could not even make it up to the level of Chinthamani. A weak script and careless presentation has spoiled any other expectable positives.
The actors have done justice to their roles to an extent. The shots were nice for technical aspects with colourful background. Art director seems to have a great future. The songs were equally disappointing.
